Sabratha. Libya
Sabratha and Leptis Magna dominate the north coast of Libya. Following the destruction of Carthage by Rome in the second Punic War these two cities flourished exporting wheat, olive oil and treasure to secure Pax Romana here on the African continent.
Uncovered by the Italians in the 1930's in Mussolini's quest for an umbilical to the majesty of Rome these cities now deteriorate in the North African sun.
If you are able visit these wonders before the sands possess them again.
